Camberwell Court Residents Celebrate ‘The Big Lunch’
On Saturday, 6th June 2020, members of the staff team at Newington Housing held an event at our Camberwell Court Sheltered Scheme to celebrate the annual rollout of The Big Lunch.
Lunch, along with some other treats were delivered by staff to all participating residents.
Like others, Camberwell residents have faced unprecedented challenges over the past few months, as they have been unable to go about their normal daily lives, participate in the many activities which are usually delivered at the Scheme, or spend quality time with other family members and friends.
Unfortunately, due to the difficult times we all find ourselves in, we were unable to deliver the event as initially planned, however by overcoming a few obstacles, we were delighted to able to deliver such a lovely event. Overall, it was an extremely positive day for everyone involved and the residents were delighted with not only with the lunch provided, but also to see a friendly face and listening ear’.
The Big Lunch is an annual celebration of neighbours and community designed to bring people together where they live. Anyone can join in with FREE resources available at thebiglunch.com
Speaking about The Big Lunch Northern Ireland manager Grainne McCloskey said: “ Eden Project Communities, partnered with National Lottery are delighted Newington Housing Association joined in, celebrating community. Taking the time for conversation makes all the difference particularly during the pandemic”.
On behalf of Newington, we wish to express our thanks to the residents for all their support and also Grainne and everyone at The Big Lunch Northern Ireland and Eden Project Communities for the opportunity to participate in this event.
Looking ahead to next year, as we hopefully return to some sort of normality, it is our ambition to hold an even bigger and better event and invite other residents along to participate.
